St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center

St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center (SJRMC) called on Exit Design to help them realize their vision for a “Hospital of the Future” and better organize their expanding campus to meet the needs of the community they serve. An extensive discovery and inclusion process in the community confirmed the need for a multilingual program. We heard concerns about the facility’s multiple entrances and confusion over donor-named buildings.

We built on the legacy of the donor-named buildings and created a more intuitive zoned system with color-coded signage and alphanumeric destinations that is translated across most languages. To further enhance the visitor experience, Exit developed a digital touchscreen directory to help individuals self-navigate. A duplicate digital experience was designed for the people behind the information desk to help people find destinations and provide verbal and written directions.
