That’s what’s at the heart of Kimco Realty’s refresh of legacy retail location, Suburban Square. We developed a brand strategy and identity rooted in those central ideas to embody the best of the Square’s art deco architecture and its flagship stores. The brand has since extended to every corner of the Square, taking shape across the built environment through a holistic wayfinding program designed to simplify navigation and support the brand with intuitive placemaking cues. With timeless style and premier shopping experiences, our work positioned Suburban Square not just as a convenient option for the surrounding neighborhoods, but as a retail destination for the Greater Philadelphia region.
Circling the Square
We developed signage for the Square that elevated both the place and the brand to higher a level. That materialized in many ways, from parking garage wayfinding, to custom directory units, to a larger-than-life sculptural monogram that welcomes you to a one-of-a-kind shopping experience. Wherever you find yourself in Suburban Square, the brand is right there with you.
It’s All in the Details
We carried the brand through the wayfinding experience down to the finest details, making sure that every piece felt intentionally crafted and unmistakably Suburban Square. The result is a shopping experience where the brand doesn’t just appear—it’s woven into the environment, in perfect harmony with the Art Deco essence of the Square.
A Living, Breathing Brand
After all was said and built, we worked to infuse the brand look and feel into all of the seasonal communications around the Square. It was an opportunity to elevate how Suburban Square promotes their high-end selection of retailers and events, and to unify their output with the built environment.
